5 New Songs Released in 2025 to Play This Halloween Season
You know all the Halloween song classics: "Monster Mash," "Thriller," "Somebody's Watching Me." But when it comes to modern hits that work for Spooky Season - and by "modern," we mean songs released during the 2020's - your choices are limited.
On the Live365 blog, we've already published several listicles containing Halloween tune suggestions for various decades and occasions. (We've got recommendations for 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, early 2000s, and 2010's/early 2020's music. We even have a list of musical theatre Halloween songs!) But it's time for a new list that reflects our current day and age.
Luckily, there were a handful of artists that really channeled their ghoulish side in 2025. If you you're a radio station owner, professional DJ, or just a Halloween party-planner looking to get with the times for your haunted festivities this year, this list will provide you with some Halloween playlist track ideas.
All of the five spook-tacular songs below were released at some point in 2025! While there are probably several eerie tunes by independent artists we are missing, we do know these five tunes became bangers within the mainstream music world.
Without further ado, here are our modern monstrous picks!
1. "The Dead Dance" - Lady Gaga
Released in tandem with the second season of Tim Burton's Wednesday, "The Dead Dance" was designed to bring your party mojo back to life. There's a whole dance routine associated with the tune in the Netflix show. But in Lady Gaga's black and white music video, there's a creepy porcelain doll theme.
From kid's trick-or-treating hangouts to club raving and more intimate celebrations by the candy bowl, we guarantee "The Dead Dance" will be blasting everywhere this year. So hit the dance floor and become a creature of the night!
2. "Dracula" - Tame Impala
Kevin Parker recently dropped his Tame Impala album, Deadbeat, this month. And while there were plenty of hits to sink our vampire teeth into, no track was more appropriate for the month of October than "Dracula." The beat of this psychedelic show-stopper was inspired by the Western Australian rave scene and "bush doof culture." In other words: it's very easy to sway your hips to.
This song has already been circulating far and wide within younger crowds entranced by the alternative scene. For those looking to run from the sun and party like there's no tomorrow, "Dracula" will undoubtedly be the theme of Halloween night.
3. "Everybody Scream" - Florence + the Machine
Get your coven ready: Florence + the Machine dropped a spellbinding bop just in time for Halloween. It's called "Everybody Scream," and while it's slightly tamer than the last two tracks on our list, it's no less terrifying.
With its rockin' guitar riffs, call-and-response chants from Florence Welch, and shrill vocal sounds that will undoubtedly make the hair on the back of your neck rise, this track was made with scream queens in mind. Just promise us you won't possess everyone at your Halloween get-together (like Florence does in the music video) while you're playing this aloud.
4. "Red Terror" - The Weeknd
While the direct subject matter of The Weeknd's "Red Terror" isn't exactly mortifying (the song tells the tale of distanced parental guidance), the electro-pop sounds in a minor key, frightening music video visuals, and line, "I ran from the terror, the ground was red from the led," give the heartfelt ballad a spine-chilling edge. Of all the songs on The Weeknd's most recent album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, "Red Terror" feels the most appropriate for a listen during the end of Halloween night.
If you're a fan of The Weeknd, his presence on this list should be no surprise to you. Many of Abel Tesfaye's dark, synth-heavy, and atmospheric tracks are frequently included on Halloween playlists due to their unsettling vibes. After all, there's a reason After Hours was turned into a Halloween Horror Nights attraction at Universal Studios a few years ago!
5. "Abracadabra" - Lady Gaga
"The category is: dance...or die."
Maybe it's sacrilegious to put the same artist twice on our list. But the truth is, Gaga contributed greatly to the Halloween season this year with the release of her eighth studio album, Mayhem. Us horror lovers were so lucky to be blessed with tracks like "Disease," "Killah," "Zombieboy," and "The Beast." Even the cheery "Die With a Smile" has some morbid undertones to it.
This year, no hit on Mayhem was bigger than the grandiose "Abracadabra." Who could forget when Mother Monster dropped the iconic music video during the commercial break of Super Bowl LIX? With its sinful melody, haunting tale of a witchy "Lady in Red," and magical lyrics, there's no better song to "cast your spell on the night" with.
Don't even get us started on how insane the choreography in the music video is. We think the impact of "Abracadabra" is the closest you can get to a modern-day "Thriller."
