A24 Teases a 'Stop Making Sense' Tribute Album With Paramore Clip

Last year, A24 restored and theatrically re-released Talking Heads’ 1984 concert film, Stop Making Sense. Now, the independent film distributor has announced a new tribute album, teasing the project with a humorous clip featuring Paramore’s cover of “Burning Down the House.”

In the 45-second visual, Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams finds a large package on her doorstep. Upon opening the box, she discovers a jumbo grey suit - just like the one David Byrne sports onstage in Stop Making Sense. The video ends with Hayley looking towards Zac Farro and Taylor York (who are standing across the room), saying, "I've got a tape I'd like to play you," and a snippet of the band playing “Burning Down the House.”

“Burning Down the House,” will serve as the opening track on A24’s tribute record. A24 has confirmed there will be a total of 16 songs on the album. However, a release date for the project nor the other artists on the record have not yet been revealed.

In conjunction with the theatrical re-release of Stop Making Sense, a deluxe edition of the soundtrack was issued last year via Rhino. The film, directed by the late Jonathan Demme, was shot over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983. It was added to the National Film Registry in 2021.
