Alanis Morissette Musical ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Announces Broadway Debut & Cast
Jagged Little Pill, the musical based on Alanis Morissette’s 1995 Grammy-winning album, will make its Broadway debut later this year. The Broadway cast is comprised of six performers reprising their roles from last summer’s sold-out premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA.
Previews of the musical will begin at the Broadhurst Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 3, which will be followed by the official opening on Thursday, Dec. 5.
The Broadway production will star Kathryn Gallagher (Spring Awakening), Celia Rose Gooding, Derek Klena (Anastasia), Sean Allan Krill (Honeymoon in Vegas), Lauren Patten (Fun Home), and Elizabeth Stanley (On the Town).
Also returning to the show are Antonio Cipriano, Yeman Brown, Jane Bruce, John Cardoza, Laurel Harris, Logan Hart, Max Kumangai, Ezra Menas, Kelsey Orem, Nora Schell, Kei Tsuruharatani, and Ebony Williams. New to the company are Heather Lang and Ken Clark.
Written by Diablo Cody and directed by Diane Paulus, Jagged Little Pill features songs from Morissette’s catalog, including “You Oughta Know,” “Head Over Feet,” “Hand In My Pocket,” and “Ironic,” along with some new material written by Morissette and Glen Ballard.
The plot follows “a picture-perfect suburban family — but looks can be deceiving. When the cracks beneath the surface begin to show, they must choose between maintaining the status quo or facing harsh truths about themselves, their community, and the world around them.”
An original cast recording will be released via Atlantic Records.
Tickets are currently on sale on Telecharge.
