Brian Wilson Postpones June Tour Dates Due to Mental Health

In a note to ticketholders on Brian Wilson's website, the former Beach Boys singer has announced that he is postponing his upcoming tour dates to take care of his mental health.

Currently, the June dates for the Pet Sounds and Greatest Hits Live tours have been postponed. The Greatest Hits Live dates beginning in August have not been postponed.

Wilson is planning to “rest, recover and work with [his] doctors” on his issues until he is ready to get onstage again.

He notes that he is physically stronger than he has been in a long time after undergoing three successful back surgeries last year. However, he has been feeling "mentally insecure" ever since the last operation.

“It is no secret that I have been living with mental illness for many decades. There were times when it was unbearable but with doctors and medications I have been able to live a wonderful, healthy and productive life with support from my family, friends and fans who have helped me through this journey."

He continues, "I’ve been struggling with stuff in my head and saying things I don’t mean, and I don’t know why. It’s something I’ve never dealt with before and we can’t quite figure it out just yet.”

"The music and my fans keep me going and I know this will be something I can AGAIN overcome."

Wilson is set to hit the road with the Zombies in the fall.
