Brian Wilson Unveils 2022 Co-Headlining U.S. Tour With Chicago

Beach Boys member Brian Wilson and legendary horn-driven rock band Chicago have announced a co-headlining U.S. tour. The 25-city tour begins in Phoenix in June and wraps up in Clarkston, Michigan at the end of July.

On the tour, Wilson will be joined onstage by fellow Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine, as well as South African singer Blondie Chaplin - a brief member of the legendary surf pop band from 1972-73.

The upcoming tour is not the first time Beach Boys members have collaborated with Chicago. In 1974, Jardine, Carl Wilson, and Dennis Wilson sang backing vocals on Chicago’s single “Wishing You Were Here.” Chicago and the Beach Boys would then go on the Beachago Tour together in 1975, followed by another collaborative tour in 1989.

Tickets for the Live Nation-produced tour will go on sale on Friday (Dec. 3) at 10am local time. You can buy tickets either on Brian Wilson's website or Chicago's.

In other Brian Wilson news, the artist finished his fall tour in October, updated his website with many new features, and recently shared the album At My Piano. He is also the subject of the new documentary Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road. The documentary’s soundtrack, released last week, includes Wilson’s new duet with Jim James, “Right Where I Belong.”

As for Beach Boys updates, the group recently entered into an intellectual property partnership with Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group that covers the legendary Southern California group’s recordings, brand, memorabilia, and select compositions. Three of the original members - Wilson, Mike Love, and Jardine - as well as the estate of Carl Wilson talked about the new deal in a statement.

“The Beach Boys and our songs have been one of the great joys of our lives," they said. "For more than half a century, we’ve witnessed generations of fans from all corners of the world come together to celebrate our music, dancing and singing along to the songs that we have loved and performed for decades. As we look towards the upcoming 60th anniversary of The Beach Boys, we wanted a partner to help expand opportunities for our brand, while continuing to preserve our tradition as a band whose music transcends the test of time.”
