Britney Spears Puts Las Vegas Residency on Hold Due to Father’s Health Emergency
Britney Spears announced on Friday that she is postponing her upcoming Las Vegas residency, Britney: Domination, due to her father’s recent health emergency. Her residency was set to run 32 shows beginning on Feb. 13 at Las Vegas’ Park Theatre.
Spears' father, Jamie Spears, went into emergency surgery two months ago when his colon “spontaneously ruptured,” which was followed by a 28-day hospital stay. Jamie Spears is home now, but Spears will be going on an “indefinite work hiatus” to care for her family.
“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart,” Spears tweeted.
“However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand.”
Refund information for the Britney: Domination show can be found on Spears’ website. Currently, there is no information about when the residency will resume.
