CMT's Artists of the Year Special Set to Honor Country Music's Women: Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, & More
Every year CMT honors country music's most influential and successful artists with their Artists of the Year Special. This year the special will be completely dedicated to honoring country music's women. The honorees are Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott. The special airs Wednesday, October 17 at 8pm ET/PT on CMT, which will also feature additional guests and performances to be announced at a later date.
Regarding the all-female Artists of the Year, CMT's Senior Vice President of Music & Talent, Leslie Frame said, "This year, we’re evolving the special to reflect what’s happening right now in culture and in the lives of our fans.” “In this monumental year for women, dedicating one of the biggest nights in the genre to applaud female country artists not only solidifies our commitment, but we hope will spark a much-needed change in the industry.”
CMT will also be airing an all-day long "Women of Country Music" takeover on October 17 across all of the network's platforms.
