Featured Spotlight Station: Classic Long Island Radio

Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is Classic Long Island Radio! We spoke with David Doerrier about the station's setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!

What brought you to Live365?

I have been familiar with Live365 for several years. I was with Radionomy for 5 years and when they shut down their service to the U.S., I was forced to find another platform. I came to Live365 because of customer service and licensing.

What's your studio like?

I use Shoutcast and use Live365 to relay my stream. So far, it is working out well. 100% of the time I use the AutoDJ feature.

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

Listeners can expect the classics from the 60's and 70's with a twist - lots of deep cuts from the time period. I have 3000 songs rotating and it should take as long as 3 days before the same song will play again.

What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?

The best part is seeing the listeners from around the world find my station, stick around, and come back day after day. The songs I have selected for the station are all songs that meet my critical ear. It is great to see people like my selection and have a similar ear for timeless music.

What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?

The best concert I've attended was Commander Cody with The Flying Burrito Brothers as the opener. It was at Stony Brook University, Long Island, NY in 1976. This is my favorite because it was my first of many to come.

What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?

John Lennon

We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!

My top ten list is a bit eclectic. I like the popular songs from the 60's and 70's, but moreso the songs from that time period that were less played on air and obscure. I chose these songs because these are the 10 songs that I posted on my social media most recently. All the songs listed here are part of the library.
