Featured Spotlight Station: Jazz Zone Radio
Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is Jazz Zone Radio! We spoke with Paulette Jackson about their setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!
What brought you to Live365?
Research and a reference from a friend brought me here.
What's your studio like?
I'm currently using a Samson portable mic, Audacity, Philips headphones, HP laptop, and Apple iPad.
What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Listeners will hear all types of jazz music, from the standards to smooth to fusion. I want my listeners to hear a wide variety of jazz music, some they grew up on and some that will become new favorites. We play a lot of independent jazz artists as well. No news, just wonderful music and weekly jazz shows.
What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?
As the operating manager and owner, my favorite moments are those where I get to play up-and-coming artists' music and promote them on my social media. The feedback I get from the artists is what I like the best, and I love having the freedom to play just what I want.
What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?
Rachelle Ferrell! I love the fact that she performed with a few real live instruments and just herself. She only had one special guest singer to accompany her on a couple of her duets. She didn't need all the bells and whistles to put on a good show, her phenomenal voice and stage presence were enough...REAL talent.
What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?
Nancy Wilson. I regret I never got a chance to see her perform live. I loved her style.
We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!
Just to name a few:
- Reflections Of My Heart - Rachelle Ferrell
- Good Morning Heartache - Diana Ross
- Norwegian Wood - Paul Tuvman
- Guess Who I Saw Today - Nancy Wilson
- Heroes of the Dawn - Brian Culbertson
