Featured Spotlight Station: Rock On The Rise Radio

Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is Rock On The Rise Radio! We spoke with Shamas Maximus about their setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!

What brought you to Live365?

We came to Live365 because we want to do our part to make sure that the artists get what love we can give them and a chance at the spotlight regardless of their pockets or label status.

What's your studio like?

I like using multiple monitors, specifically 4, to make sure everything is in front of me that I need. I use a Behringer soundboard and low pick up Shure mic with Tascam studio headphones. I want an authentic feel so I have a set up to take phone calls on-air as well as Skype calls. I promote going to concerts and buying merch to support bands so it should come as no surprise that the walls and ceiling are covered in signed posters, CDs, and albums.

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

We offer the best of signed AND unsigned rock and metal. We do not just play stuff because it is unsigned or because it is popular. We have a bar of expectation and are proud to share what we think. Everything you hear will pass that test, whether a live show or station rotation. We do live interviews with bands and round table discussions periodically that involve people from every aspect of the rock and metal scene.

What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?

I love the music, being ahead of the curve, and the passion I share as a fan with other fans of the music.

What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?

Lollapalooza 1994 (I think it was '94, but it could have been '97) in New Orleans. WHY? Metallica, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, The Ramones, and The Screaming Trees all in one day.

What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?

I never had a chance to see Pantera, it will always haunt me.

We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!

Lately, my personal tastes have moved to the post metalcore and metalcore scenes. "Fraud" by If I Were You is one of my favorites. Anything from Of Mice & Men, anything from Bullet For My Valentine (new or old), Parkway Drive's "Prey," and the new album from Wage War. You can also count on the new We Came As Romans and any music from Skull Above The Cannon.
