'First on SoundCloud' Accelerator Program Introduces 9 New Artists in 2021

SoundCloud has selected nine emerging artists to headline its 2021 "First on SoundCloud" artist discovery program.

According to SoundCloud, the program is “focused on dedicated investment in co-creating each artist’s career milestones to help drive their long-term success” and will feature a “multi-phase, year-long investment” in the chosen artists.

The nine young musicians SoundCloud is promoting are Charmaine, Ela Minus, Kid Quill, Lourdiz, Otis Kane, Pa Salieu, Payday, Sofia Mills, and SoFaygo. Since its creation in 2018, the "First on SoundCloud" emerging artists campaign has featured the likes of Lil Tecca, Kehlani, Peggy Gou, and Little Simz.

There are several perks to being a selected artist for the accelerator program. First, the nine SoundCloud musicians will be announced by “influential artists, tastemakers and cultural pioneers,” including D Smoke, Trippie Redd, Rico Nasty, creative photographer and designer Ciesay of Places + Faces, and NBA star De’Aaron Fox.

Second, the 2021 artists will receive introductory profiles by SoundCloud's guest editor Kiana Fitzgerald. They will feature “insights into their personal stories, musical styles, creative influences, and inspirations."

After that, SoundCloud will help the new artists produce their own original content, as well as feature their music on the homepage's "First on SoundCloud" playlist.
