Florence and the Machine Share Song From New Album 'Everybody Scream'
A new Florence and the Machine album is on the way, and now, the band have shared the title track and opener from their project. It's called "Everybody Scream," and comes with a music video directed by Autumn de Wilde.
The song has a punk rock feel, and sees Florence Welch on stage, commanding her crowd to let loose. According to Genius, "Everybody Scream" has a strong connection to "Morning Elvis": the final track on the band's previous studio album, Dance Fever. (“Morning Elvis” ends with the sound of a cheering crowd, with a lot of screaming from fans. In “Everybody Scream”, this imagery is brought back with Welch directly approaching her audience.)

The gothic music video has Welch and a witch squad traipse across an old rural town. Their dancing and screaming sends people into possessed contortions inside a large manor room.
Pitchfork reports Florence Welch wrote and produced Everybody Scream over the past two years. She worked on the follow-up to Dance Fever with Idles’ Mark Bowen, the National‘s Aaron Dessner, and Mitski. The new single also features contributions from producer James Ford, multi-instrumentalist James McAlister, woodwind player Stuart Bogie, and others.
Per Stereogum, the full album will be released this Halloween. It is set to be an exploration of “spiritual mysticism, witchcraft, and folk horror.” Pre-orders for physical albums are available here.
