Gorillaz Drop New Single 'The Manifesto' Featuring Trueno and Proof

Gorillaz have shared a new single from their upcoming LP The Mountain. It's called “The Manifesto,” and features Argentine rapper Trueno. There's also a freestyle from the late D12 member Proof that, according to Pitchfork, was recorded in his early days as a rapper.

The seven-minute bop contains a melting pot of different cultural and musical influences. Indian instrumentals mix over Spanish and English lyrics for the first half of the song. After three minutes in, "The Manifesto" transitions to a more hardcore hip-hop beat for Proof's solo. It closes out with dreamier synth tones, and more lyrics from Trueno and Gorillaz member 2-D.

Besides Trueno and Proof, “The Manifesto” features an illustrious cast of musicians, including sarod players Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, the longstanding Indian wedding band Jea Band Jaipur, bansuri player Ajay Prasanna, and the Vijayaa Shanker–led Mountain Choir. According to Genius, the single likely originates from sessions for the hit album Demon Days, especially since the verse from Proof is present.

Gorillaz’s fictional drummer Russell Hobbs said about the song in a press release: “As space dust we are here forever and that’s a mighty long time. This is a musical meditation infused with light. A journey of the soul, with beats…”

Gorillaz introduced their new album with “The Happy Dictator,” featuring Sparks. Idles, Kara Jackson, Yasiin Bey, Omar Souleyman, Anoushka Shankar, Black Thought, and the late Tony Allen and Mark E. Smith are also set to have features on The Mountain. The LP is expected to drop in early 2026, and was debuted and performed in full at a show during Gorillaz's 25th anniversary "House of Kong" exhibition.
