HBO Max Announces Carrie Underwood Holiday Special

HBO Max has announced that a holiday special featuring Carrie Underwood will be released this year. Underwood will perform songs from her first holiday album, My Gift, which drops on Sept. 25.

In addition to songs from Underwood's new album, she'll perform some holiday favorites with help from a live orchestra and choir. Tom Hanks, Underwood, her manager Ann Edelblute, and Playtone’s Gary Goetzman are all set to executive produce the special.

“Carrie Underwood is a multi-faceted talent and we are thrilled to be partnering with her and our friends at Playtone to bring a dose of holiday cheer,” said HBO Max's head of original content Sarah Aubrey.

“The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year,” said Carrie Underwood. “Creating this album has been good for my heart, and I’m thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”

The premiere date has yet to be announced, but the special is to be shot this fall.
