Janelle Monáe Releases New Song 'Stronger'
Singer and actress Janelle Monáe has shared a new song called "Stronger" as part of a Netflix series called We the People - a new animated show about the basics of U.S. rights and citizenship.
The show is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama and has been described by The New York Times as "updat(ing) the sound of Schoolhouse Rock with rap and R&B." Besides Monáe's track, We the People includes tracks by Lin Manuel-Miranda, Cordae, H.E.R., Adam Lambert, and more.
“Stronger” is the latest in a handful of Monáe singles since her 2018 studio album Dirty Computer. She contributed the song “Turntables” to the voter suppression documentary All In: The Fight for Democracy last fall. She also performed the song on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in March.
Monáe also recorded her own version of “He’s a Tramp” for the 2019 live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp. In addition to singing, she also voiced a Pekingese named Peg in the film.
In the acting world, Monáe was cast in the second season of Amazon’s psychological thriller Homecoming and is set to appear in Rian Johnson's Knives Out sequel.
