Jennifer Lopez Announces 'This Is Me … Now' Album

Jennifer Lopez has announced This Is Me...Now, the follow-up to her 2002 record This Is Me...Then, coinciding with that record's 20th anniversary.

Set to drop next year, the project will chronicle the “emotional, spiritual and psychological journey” Lopez has taken over the past two decades. In an announcement for This Is Me...Now, J.Lo said: “We captured me at this moment in time. If you have, like me at times, lost hope, almost given up, don’t. And that’s real. And I want to put that message out to the world.” The tracks on the new album have been described as “plaintive, confessional songs, reflections on the trials of her past, [and] upbeat jams celebrating love and sex.”

Lopez discussed her upcoming album in her recent Vogue cover story. She described it as a “culmination of who I am as a person and an artist.”

“People think they know things about what happened to me along the way, the men I was with — but they really have no idea, and a lot of times they get it so wrong," Lopez said in the cover story. "There’s a part of me that was hiding a side of myself from everyone. And I feel like I’m at a place in my life, finally, where I have something to say about it.”

Lopez shared an announcement video for the project on social media. It starts off with the soft and plush album cover for This Is Me...Then. "This is me then," Lopez's younger self says into the camera. As the camera pushes in on her smiling face, she takes off her hat and transforms into her current older self. "This is me now," she then speaks as the camera pulls back, revealing her latest album cover. She also sings the words "this is me now" in the background. On Instagram, Lopez captioned her video with the album's full 13-song tracklist.

This Is Me...Now will mark J.Lo’s first album in eight years, following 2014's A.K.A.. In recent history, Lopez has been working on films like 2022's Marry Me and the upcoming Amazon Prime movie Shotgun Wedding. In 2020, J.Lo performed the Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside Shakira, which was chronicled in the recent Netflix doc Halftime.
