Kingsley Ben-Adir Cast as Bob Marley in Upcoming Biopic

Finally, a Bob Marley biopic is in the works. Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night In Miami, Love Life, The OA, Peaky Blinders) has been tapped to play the beloved reggae legend in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming biopic, Deadline reports.

The film will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard, Monsters and Men). Robert Teitel as well as Marley family members Ziggy, Rita, and Cedella will serve as producers. The project was first announced back in 2018, before Green was revealed to be attached to the film last year. With Green aboard, he tapped screenwriter Zach Baylin to assist with the script.

Speaking to Collider in 2021, Green revealed the film will focus on the making of Marley’s classic album Exodus with The Wailers, which he recorded after moving to London following an unsuccessful assassination attempt in Jamaica.

Speaking to the Marley family’s input on the film, Green said: “Ziggy Marley is, right, my point of contact for the film, and producer on the project. So we’re full steam ahead.”

In related news, an immersive Bob Marley exhibition opened in London this month at the Saatchi Gallery. Following a 10-week stint, the Bob Marley One Love Experience will later head out on a multi-city tour.

Also in relevant news, Cedella Marley has published a new children's book inspired by her father called Marley and the Family Band. You can order it here.
