Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones Announces New Band Sons of Chipotle

Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has teamed up with Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen to form a new band called Sons of Chipotle.

Jones announced the news via his website saying, "Sons of Chipotle cover an uncommonly vast area of the musical map...both musicians are known to be curious minds, always ready to learn and to discover. When they improvise, borders disappear, they are free to migrate beyond prejudices, across continents. In a world where walls are being built and people are told where they cannot go, Sons of Chipotle want music to be a place of openness."

Alongside the announcement of the musical project, they also announced that they will be making their debut performance in September at the famous Pit Inn in Shinjuku, Tokyo. They will perform two shows, Sept. 3 and Sept. 5, with special guests Jim O'Rourke and Japan's Otomo Yoshihide. John Paul Jones will be on piano and electronics with Anssi Karttunen on cello and electronics.

Tickets for their upcoming shows go on sale here on July 28 at 10am Japan local time.
