Live365 Powers the 15th Anniversary of World College Radio Day
Live365 is proud to announce that we are once again the exclusive streaming partner for the annual World College Radio Day! For 15 years, this incredible event, organized by the College Radio Foundation, has championed the unique and influential voices of college radio stations across the globe. We are honored to provide the global platform where listeners can experience this incredible celebration of student-powered radio.
This year marks a huge milestone. Over the last decade and a half, World College Radio Day has brought together an amazing 1,100+ radio stations from 58 countries, creating a truly global community.
Founder of College Radio Day, Dr. Rob Quicke, says “For fifteen years, World College Radio Day has united stations worldwide to amplify the voices that matter most – those of the people. On this special 15th anniversary, 'Tune in to the People' reminds us that every story counts, every voice is vital, and by truly listening, we build bridges of respect and understanding across borders.”
At the heart of the celebration is the 24-hour Global Marathon – a listening experience unlike any other. Imagine embarking on an auditory journey around the world without ever leaving your home. Each hour, a new college radio station from a different country takes over the stream. Your listening journey might start with emerging post-punk artists featured by a station in Ireland, then jump to a celebration of Cumbia sounds from a university in Mexico, followed by an electrifying house music set from a broadcaster in South Africa, before landing on some classic indie rock from a campus in the United States. It's a non-stop, unpredictable, and utterly fascinating showcase of global youth culture, music, and ideas.
The 24-hour Global Marathon is, as always, a seamless, live listening event for audiences. To celebrate the 15th anniversary, this year’s marathon is especially centered on the unique, unfiltered magic that happens when a broadcaster is live on the air. To add to the excitement, the College Radio Foundation is introducing a couple new awards for participating stations! This friendly competition is designed to incentivize stations to drive listenership and showcase their most creative content.
