Lola Young Cancels All Upcoming Shows Following Onstage Collapse
This past Saturday (September 27), up-and-coming indie pop star Lola Young collapsed while performing during the All Things Go festival at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium. Now, the "Messy" singer has announced she’s taking a long break - cancelling all her upcoming appearances in the process - to prioritize her health.
“I’m going away for a while,” she wrote in a statement posted to social media. “It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know. Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund. I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x”

Per Variety, Young was scheduled to perform at a string of music festivals and shows with dates scheduled into 2026. The cancelled shows include her North American “Messy” headlining tour: a 17-date trek that was scheduled to begin November 1 in Toronto, and conclude on December 6 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
Pitchfork reports that over the years, Young has opened up about her various health struggles and diagnoses; including ADHD, schizoaffective disorder, and a 2024 rehab stay to treat cocaine addiction. Young pulled out of Audacy’s We Can Survive Concert in Newark, citing mental health concerns. She addressed the decision during her show on Saturday, saying she’d “had a tricky couple of days.”
“Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue,” she added. “But you know what? Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool. Sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”
Additionally, during her debut Coachella performance earlier this year, Young vomited onstage. She later chalked up the incident to nerves.
Fans are concerned that Young shares the same former manager, Nick Shymansky, as Amy Winehouse. Shymansky, a prominent music manager and label executive, managed Winehouse until the release of her pivotal album Back to Black. During her lifetime, Winehouse had a reputation for erratic and inconsistent live shows due to struggles with addiction and mental health - and not being afforded proper time to rest and recover. Shymansky had initially vowed not to work with another artist after his experiences with Winehouse, but decided to make an exception after discovering Lola Young.
Young has been writing and recording music ever since she was a teenager, having landed spots in competition shows such as Open Mic UK and Got What It Takes? in England. Last year, her single “Messy” - from her sophomore album This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway - achieved massive success, topping the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. Young just released her third studio album, I’m Only F**king Myself.
