Lorde and Marlon Williams Perform Cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'Tougher Than the Rest'

New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde and Marlon Williams joined forces to cover The Boss this week. The singers performed their rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "Tougher Than the Rest" at a concert in Auckland.

Lorde made a special appearance during the encore of Marlon Williams's set, on the final night of his sold-out shows at Auckland's Hollywood Theater. She did this in support of Williams's 2020 album Plastic Bouquet, a country collaboration with Kacy & Clayton. Williams is best known to U.S. audiences for his role in the 2018 film A Star Is Born.

Lorde and Springsteen go way back. In 2014, Springsteen covered her hit “Royals” while touring in New Zealand. She returned the favor by inserting Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” into her set on the 2017 Melodrama World Tour.

Although she's been hiding from the public eye for awhile, Lorde is still making music. In November 2019, she hinted that her third studio album was "in the oven."
