Mary J. Blige Named BET Award's Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

This year, the BET Awards, which air live on June 23 at 8pm ET on BET, will honor Mary J. Blige with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Blige is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, an Academy Award-nominated actress, and a philanthropist. Throughout her career, she has earned eight multi-platinum albums, sold more than 50 million albums, won nine Grammys out of 32 nominations, and has received two Golden Globe nominations and one SAG nod. She also made Oscar history in 2018 as the first double nominee in the best supporting actress and best song categories for her work on Mudbound.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes veteran artists and their extraordinary contributions to music. Previous BET lifetime achievement honorees include Anita Baker, New Edition, Charlie Wilson, Prince, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, and James Brown.

The 19th Annual BET Awards air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 23 at 8pm ET on BET.
