Mary J. Blige Recalls Making of 'My Life' in New Documentary Trailer
Mary J. Blige is reflecting on the most impactful work of her career, her 1994 album My Life, in an upcoming documentary.
A trailer has just been released for Mary J. Blige's My Life. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth (Freeheld), the film arrives on June 25 via Amazon Prime Video and will explore Blige's sophomore album in full detail. Hits off My Life include "You Bring Me Joy," "Be Happy," "I'm Goin' Down," and "Mary Jane (All Night Long)."
“My Life is probably my darkest album at one of the darkest times I’ve had,” Blige says in the trailer. “Most of the time I was just depressed and didn’t want to live. I had it all inside and I was able to sing it and write it, and I didn’t know that so many people felt the same way.”
The trailer also shows Blige performing for an audience. Besides Blige discussing the secrets of My Life, the documentary will also feature her performing the album live for the first time in celebration of its 25th anniversary.
Mary J. Blige's My Life is executive produced by the singer and Sean Combs (who appears in the trailer). Alicia Keys and Taraji P. Henson will also make appearances. Quincy Jones serves as executive music producer.
