Megan Thee Stallion Donates $50K to Support Asian American Community

Megan Thee Stallion pledged to donate $50,000 in support of the Asian American community following the shooting spree in Atlanta, Georgia, in which a gunman went to three different spas and killed eight people.

"I am heartbroken by the loss of eight individuals taken from their families on March 16 in a senseless, violent attack against Asian Americans," wrote the rapper in her Instagram post.

The $50K will go to Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the rights of Asian Americans, Native Hawiians, and Pacific Islanders in Georgia and the Southeast. Megan's donation is in collaboration with Fashion Nova and journalist/activist May Lee.

The shooting, in which a gunman opened fire in three different spas in the Atlanta area, resulted in the murder of eight people. Six of them were Asian women. The victims have been identified as Soon Chung Park, 74; Hyun Jung Grant, 51; Suncha Kim, 69; Yong Ae Yue, 63; Delaina Ashley Yuan, 33; Paul Andre Michels, 54; Xiaojie Yan, 49; and Daoyou Feng, 44.

This is not the first time the Grammy Award-winning rapper has made a large donation to a cause she believes in. Earlier this month, the rapper donated $100,000 to the Breonna Taylor Foundation on the one-year anniversary of Taylor's death. As for other artists showing support for the AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) community, Masked Singer judge Ken Jeong donated $50K to the families of the victims. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Olivia Rodrigo, and Ariana Grande also shared resources to help combat Asian hate.
