Missy Elliott Honored with Street Name in Her Virginia Hometown
If you’re ever in Portsmouth, Virginia, be sure to visit Missy Elliott Boulevard! On Tuesday, Portsmouth's city council unanimously approved a citizen’s request to name a street Missy Elliott Boulevard, WTKR reports.
“I am forever GRATEFUL,” Elliott tweeted after learning about the decision made in her hometown. Missy Elliott Boulevard is a section of McLean Street between Airline Boulevard and Greenwood Drive. The area includes Woodland Park, the Portsmouth campus of Tidewater Community College, Victory Crossing Shopping Center, and the future site of the Portsmouth Rivers Casino.
The boulevard is not the only geographical honor Missy Elliott has received lately. She got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year, and also joined the inaugural class of the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta.
While there's no new Missy Elliott music projects to report about at the moment, most recently the rapper directed City Girls' "Twerkulator" video, appeared alongside Bree Runway on "ATM," and featured on a remix of Dua Lipa's "Levitating."
