Mitski Announces 2022 Tour & Shares 'Working for the Knife'
Indie rock hero Mitski is finally back with new music and a 2022 tour announcement.
The Japanese-American singer-songwriter has released a single called "Working for the Knife," which arrives with a dramatic new video directed by Zia Anger. The song was produced by Mitski’s frequent collaborator Patrick Hyland, and the video was filmed at a performing arts venue known as The Egg in Albany, New York.
“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job, and feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind,” Mitski said about the new song in a statement. “It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognize your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.”
"Working for the Knife" follows on the heels of Mitski's 2018 critically-acclaimed album Be the Cowboy. In September 2019, Mitski played a show in Central Park - her "last show indefinitely" - before taking a long hiatus from music. She also deleted all social media.
Now, Mitski is set to travel internationally in 2022. Her tour will start February 17 in Asheville, North Carolina and eventually conclude in May at Strom in Munich, Germany. Other locations include Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, London, Dublin, Paris, and many more.
Tickets for Mitski's tour will be available over on Ticketmaster. The North American pre-sale starts tomorrow (October 6) at 10am local time. Tickets for all shows are on sale Friday. You can also find tickets and more info on Mitski's website.
