MTV to Reboot Classic Docuseries 'Behind the Music'
A Behind the Music reboot has been announced for Paramount+, courtesy of MTV.
The music documentary series originally ran on VH1 from 1997 to 2014 and was nominated for 5 Primetime Emmy Awards. Paramount+ will release brand new episodes with “artist interviews, a creative refresh and reimagined visual style."
The streaming platform will host new and existing episodes of the series later this year. While a specific release date has yet to be confirmed, a number of guests have been announced. So far the list includes Jennifer Lopez, LL Cool J, Ricky Martin, and Huey Lewis.
The documentary show focuses on one musician or musical group per episode, and displays the successes and problems the artist faces throughout their career. In the past, Behind the Music covered artists such as Aerosmith, 50 Cent, George Michael, Lil Wayne, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Nicks, John Lennon, and more.
Other celebrated MTV shows getting reboots on Paramount+ include Unplugged, the iconic MTV performance series, and the beloved Yo! MTV Raps, which originally aired from 1988 to 1995.
