New Apple TV+ Documentary to Explore Music of James Bond Franchise

Apple TV+ has announced The Sound of 007, a feature documentary about the incredible history of six decades of music from the James Bond franchise, Deadline first reported.

The Sound of 007 will feature heartfelt interviews and showcase Bond archive material in order dig deeper into one of the greatest film franchises - and series of musical scores - of all time.

Produced by MGM, Eon Productions, and Ventureland, the documentary is set to premiere in October 2022 to mark the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film series. It will stream exclusively on Apple TV+.

Ventureland and Eon Productions are the award-winning producing team of the James Bond documentary Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007. The upcoming doc will be directed by Mat Whitecross and produced by John Battsek. Recently, Whitecross expressed his gratitude for being able to helm the project. "I’ve loved the music of Bond since before I can remember. So excited to be making #TheSoundof007 with @AppleTV, @Venture_land, and EON," he wrote on Twitter.

News of the Apple TV+ documentary comes just after the theatrical release of the COVID-delayed No Time To Die. It will be the streaming service's second documentary in the world of Bond, after releasing MGM's Being James Bond: The Daniel Craig Story on the platform earlier this year.

The Sound of 007 will join a slate of new and award-winning documentaries and docuseries from Apple TV+. Previous docs from the platform include the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize Award-winning Boys State, The Me You Can’t See from Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, and 1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything.
