New Biopic to Follow Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne's 40-Year Relationship

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's famous rock 'n' roll love story will be the subject of an upcoming Sony Pictures film, Variety revealed on Thursday (October 21).

The untitled Polygram Entertainment project will follow a biopic format centering on the couple's 40-year-long bond - one that exploded to the heights of pop culture with the early 2000s MTV reality series The Osbournes. Lee Hall (Cats, Rocketman, Billy Elliot) is writing the script.

“Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together,” Sharon said in a statement, "We’re thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen."

Sharon and her kids Jack Osborune (The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, Alpha Dogs, God Bless Ozzy Osbourne) and Aimée Osbourne are producing via their label Osbourne Media. Michele Anthony and David Blackman will produce on behalf of Polygram Entertainment, while Andrea Giannetti is helming development for Sony. As for music, the biopic will feature beloved songs from Black Sabbath's discography as well as tracks from Ozzy's solo career.

Polygram is a film and television arm of Universal Music Group, working across scripted and unscripted projects based around music and music history. Recent projects include The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart? from director Frank Marshall, and acclaimed docs about The Go-Go’s and Beastie Boys.

As for other Osbourne family news, Ozzy recently released his album Ordinary Man while kids Jack and Kelly had a special on Discovery+ titled Jack & Kelly Osbourne: Night of Terror. The siblings boarded the haunted Queen Mary ship to seek out ghosts.

Alongside the announcement of an Osbourne biopic, both Sharon and Ozzy posted about the project on social media. See what they had to say below.
