Philly Native Patti LaBelle Honored With Street Naming Ceremony

Today, July 2, Patti LaBelle is being honored by her hometown of Philadelphia with a street in her name.

During the ceremony today, a stretch of Broad Street will be renamed to “Patti LaBelle Way.” The newly named street sits between Locust and Spruce Streets. LaBelle is slated to make remarks during the Wawa Welcome America ceremony.

Sometimes referred to as “The Godmother of Soul,” LaBelle has had a number of chart-topping hits, won two Grammy Awards, as well as appeared on TV, including American Horror Story: Freak Show and her cooking show, Patti LaBelle’s Place.
