Quavo Releases Video for Takeoff Tribute Song 'Greatness'

Migos member Quavo has shared a video for his new song “Greatness.” The hip-hop tune is a tribute to his late nephew and fellow member of Migos, Takeoff, who was shot and killed in Houston last year.

The video finds Quavo at an “undisclosed location,” perusing his collection of jewelry and playing basketball with friends. "I can't kick it with a fake / And I won't sleep with the snakes / I'd rather eat with the greats / I wanted peace but I can't" he chants while sitting on a sofa alone and performing outside.

Quavo also uses the song to reflect on Migos' legacy. "Came in, swept the game like a storm with the motherf---in’ flow, n----, Take’ did that (On God) / So don’t ask about the group, he gone, we gone, young n----, it can’t come back" he raps, thus proclaiming the end of the hip-hop trio. The song continues to address Quavo's attempts to look forward to the future while he grieves.

Released yesterday (February 23), the video for "Greatness" has already racked up over 1.3 million views and has been trending on YouTube. “Greatness” is the second song Quavo has dedicated to Takeoff; he shared “Without You” last month and performed it with Maverick City Music at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Last year, he wrote an emotional tribute shortly after Takeoff died outside a bowling alley in Texas. The pair released Only Built for Infinity Links as a duo back in October.
