Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce Return of Guitarist John Frusciante & Departure of Josh Klinghoffer
Red Hot Chili Peppers are reuniting with guitarist John Frusciante as their guitarist from the past 10 years Josh Klinghoffer is exiting the group.
The band announced the lineup news via Instagram, writing, “Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us.” They continued, “We also announce, with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining our group.”
Klinghoffer joined the band in 2009 as Frusciante was exiting the group for the second time. Klinghoffer played on two of the band's albums, 2011's I'm with You and 2016's The Getaway.
This is Frusciante’s third time with Red Hot Chili Peppers. He originally joined in 1988 after the death of founding guitarist Hillel Slovak.
