Rico Nasty Announces New Album & Shares Single 'Teethsucker (Yea3x)'

Rico Nasty is coming back with her first new project since 2022’s Las Ruinas.

The rap queen is planning to release her next LP Lethal, on May 16 via Fueled by Ramen. According to a press release, the album will have a rap-rock sound and marks a bold new direction for the Maryland-born artist, who has built her career blending hip-hop, punk energy, and alternative sounds into a style she’s dubbed “sugar trap.”

To drum up anticipation for her record, Nasty has shared the single "Teethsucker (Yea3x)" and has dropped an accompanying music video. Imad Royal and Rayman co-produced the track. Regarding the track, Rico Nasty said, “‘Teethsucker (Yea3x)’ was both the first song I wrote for the album, and the first song I ever wrote with Imad Royal, who executive-produced Lethal. We all knew this song was special from the moment we turned it in.” The high-energy visual for the song features lots of hair-flipping from Rico, crisp slow-motion, and the artist drenching a crowd of people with a water hose.

Rico Nasty has described Lethal as a celebration of self-confidence and defiance. “This album is about being confident and saying f— everybody else. It’s about getting doors slammed in your face and people telling you to try it their way again and again, and you stay true to yourself and it works. That’s what this project is. It’s an ode to yourself.”

Rico Nasty first experimented with punk and metal influences on 2020's Nightmare Vacation, which featured the raging “OHFR?” and the electro-punk-infused “STFU.” She took things even further on Las Ruinas, incorporating elements of hyperpop, industrial, and alt-rock.

The Lethal tracklist includes titles like “Soul Snatcher,” “Grave,” and “Son of a Gun,” and the album is available now for pre-order, including a limited-edition silver saw blade vinyl.

In other Rico Nasty news, the artist recently toured with electronic punk duo 100 gecs, and collaborated with genre-fluid artists like Denzel Curry, Doja Cat, and hyperpop producer Dylan Brady.
