Swizz Beatz, Missy Elliott, Questlove, & More Remember DMX

Following the untimely death of rap legend DMX on Friday, April 9, several artists offered their condolences and paid tribute to the 90's icon over social media.

DMX died at the age of 50 after being hospitalized for a week due to a heart attack. The rapper, who was born Earl Simmons, will be commemorated at a memorial with more details to come soon.

“He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him,” Simmons's family said in a statement. “Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”

On Saturday, April 10th, Swizz Beatz posted an emotional video to Instagram paying his respects to DMX. He talked about Simmons's humility, loyalty, and even shared the details of a dream he had about DMX the day after the rapper's passing.

"This man had $30 million, writing his music in abandoned buildings. He would give his clothes away. He would sit down with homeless people and eat with them, with $30m in the bank! He didn't care about no money," Swizz Beatz told viewers. "He cared about humanity. He was a humanitarian. He did more charity than probably every artist I know. The only difference with his charity is he never talked about it. He just did it, on a daily basis."
