Taylor Swift & Paul McCartney Named Presenters at 2021 Rock Hall Induction Ceremony

After announcing its 2021 class in May, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has released its first lineup of presenters and performers for the October 30 induction ceremony. Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, Angela Bassett, Christina Aguilera, H.E.R., and more are set to participate.

Swift will be welcoming legendary singer-songwriter Carole King into the Hall of Fame while also taking part in King's performance with Jennifer Hudson.

Angela Bassett, who portrayed Tina Turner in the singer's 1993 biopic What's Love Got To Do With It, will induct her. Christina Aguilera, Mickey Guyton, H.E.R., and Bryan Adams will be performing a special medley of Turner songs in her honor.

Sir Paul McCartney will present for the Foo Fighters, while Drew Barrymore will induct the Go-Gos. Dr. Dre will award LL Cool J with his Musical Excellence honor, and Lionel Richie is set to present Sussex Records founder Clarence Avant with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

As for inductees Jay-Z, Todd Rundgren, Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, Gil Scott-Heron, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads, organizers have yet to announce who will speak and perform for them.

For two of the inductees, there are currently some challenges with location and scheduling that are to be worked out. Turner has not confirmed if she will travel to America from her home in Switzerland to attend the ceremony, and Todd Rundgren has a concert in Cincinnati the evening of the event. However, he may find a way to take part in the show from the venue he's playing.

Last year, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame held a virtual ceremony to compromise for the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a combination of remote speeches by the 2020 class along with mini documentaries about their careers. Earlier this year, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame chairman John Sykes told Rolling Stone the HBO broadcast of the show may take inspiration from the elements that worked virtually.

The 36th Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Tickets to the event can be purchased here, and a broadcast of the show will happen on November 20 at 8pm ET via HBO. It will also be available to stream through HBO Max, DirecTV Stream, Hulu, Sling TV, and YouTube TV.
