The 1975 Release Music Video for New Song 'All I Need to Hear'
The 1975 are back and yesterday (September 21), they released a music video for their new song “All I Need to Hear.” It's the fourth single from the band’s upcoming LP Being Funny in a Foreign Language.
Directed by Samuel Bradley, the black-and-white visual shows frontman Matt Healy revisiting where they recorded the new album as he ruminates on the nature of art and his relationship with his bandmates.
Three minutes into the video, Healy enters the studio to perform "All I Need to Hear" with his fellow bandmates. The dreamy piano ballad has a deeply romantic feel that's perfect for slow dances at weddings.
Matty Healy confirmed in a cover story for Pitchfork that the goal when creating the track was to make something that “sounds like a cover.”
“As a joke, George [Daniel] was like, ‘I don’t think you f-----’ wrote that.’" he said. "It’s my favorite thing he’s ever said to me.”
“All I Need to Hear” was recorded in one take. A stripped down, acoustic version of the song was originally performed on October 22 of last year by Matty Healy, during a surprise set at Phoebe Bridgers' Reunion Tour.
Being Funny in a Foreign Language is out October 14 via Dirty Hit. The new single follows “I’m in Love With You,” “Happiness,” and “Part of the Band.” The 1975 will kick off a North American tour in support of the record in November.
