'The Collected Works of Jim Morrison' Book to Be Released in June

A massive collection of Jim Morrison's written works, including poetry, lyrics, and more, is set to be released on June 8 via HarperCollins.

Entitled The Collected Works of Jim Morrison: Poetry, Journals, Transcripts and Lyrics, the book is based off of a handwritten list titled “Plan for Book” that Morrison wrote before his death. With cooperation from his estate, the book was completed with help from author and longtime Doors fan Tom Robbins, Morrison’s sister Anne Morrison Chewning, and longtime friend Frank Lisciandro.

The 600-page book compiles previously published work, like song lyrics, poetry, and posthumously published writing collections Wilderness and The American Night, as well as unpublished material. According to Rolling Stone, some materials that will see their first-ever release include Morrison’s treatment for movie project The Hitchhiker, unrecorded lyrics, "handwritten excerpts from 28 recently discovered notebooks, and 160 photos and drawings."

The book release also includes a digital audiobook containing Morrison’s last poetry recording session that took place on his 27th birthday in December 1970.

The Collected Works of Jim Morrison is available for pre-order now.
