The Shins Share New Songs in Honor of Late Bandmate Richard Swift
The Shins have released two new songs, “Waimanalo” and “Trapped by the Sea,” as part of a vinyl series honoring their late bandmate Richard Swift.
Entitled Fug Yep Soundation, the seven-inch vinyl series is a project created by Swift's collaborators in his honor. The series aims to “raise awareness for addiction and bring community to those suffering.”
These two tracks, which appear on the second volume, are the Shins’ first new music since their 2017 album Heartworms. “Waimanalo” and “Trapped by the Sea” were written and produced by Shins frontman James Mercer.
Last year, Swift passed away at just 41 years old. He worked with the Shins, the Black Keys, and the Arcs, and was a celebrated producer and multi-instrumentalist.
Fans can purchase the seven-inch series here. Proceeds from sales of the series go towards Swift’s family, MusiCares, and Music Support UK.
