The War on Drugs Prep New Album ‘I Don’t Live Here Anymore’ for October Release
Philadelphia band The War on Drugs have unveiled their first new studio album in four years. I Don't Live Here Anymore is the follow-up to their 2017 project A Deeper Understanding, and will be released October 29 via Atlantic Records.
I Don't Live Here Anymore includes the meditative new single "Living Proof," which the band just shared a new music video for. The new album will feature 10 tracks and was recorded at seven different studios - including Electric Lady in New York and Sound City in Los Angeles. Adam Granduciel, bassist Dave Hartley, and multi-instrumentalist Anthony LaMarca originally created demos in Upstate New York, and the band recorded the songs as a unit rather than separately as they did in the past.
A North American and European tour is also scheduled to support the new album. It will start in November of this year at the Desert Daze Festival in California, and conclude next year in Madrid during the July Mad Cool Festival. The tour also includes a date at Madison Square Garden (Jan. 29). Tickets will be available to the general public Friday, July 23 at 10am ET. More info can be found here.
The War on Drugs have been among the most successful bands to come out of Philly in the last decade. The Philly Voice describes their sound as a "fusion of indie heartland rock and neo-psych shoegaze led by Adam Granduciel."
In 2018, the band won the Grammy for Best Rock Album. More recently, The War on Drugs launched The Super High Quality Podcast in 2020, which was a four-part series that examined the recordings on their first live album, LIVE DRUGS.
Vinyl, CD, and cassette versions of I Don't Live Here Anymore are available for pre-sale on the band's official online store. You can find them here.
