It's 2022 and P!nk is back in the limelight with her funky new single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again." It comes right after the artist snagged an Icon Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, and was named the U.K.'s most-played female artist of the century. P!nk has managed to stay very relevant in the music world for more than 20 years. Why? Because she's always managed to peg herself as an unconventional pop star who appeals to the freaks and geeks of the world. And that's what makes her so special!

P!nk (real name: Alecia Moore) was originally a member of the girl group Choice before LaFace Records offered her a solo recording contract in 1995. Her R&B-influenced debut studio album Can't Take Me Home (2000) was certified double-platinum in the United States and spawned two Billboard Hot 100 top 10 songs: "There You Go" and "Most Girls." She gained further recognition with the collaborative single "Lady Marmalade" from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, which topped charts worldwide.

But P!nk didn't truly become P!nk until she refocused her sound to pop rock. Her second studio album Missundaztood (2001) sold more than 13 million copies worldwide and yielded several international hits. Since then, P!nk has sold over 135 million records worldwide, making her one of the world's best-selling music artists. Her accolades include three Grammys, two Brit Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, and seven MTV Video Music Awards, including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. In 2009, Billboard named P!nk the Pop Songs Artist of the Decade. And her list of awards goes on and on...

Put simply, P!nk is pop royalty. If that famous Pepsi Super Bowl commercial taught us anything, it's that she's right up there with Britney Spears and Beyonce. She's got a killer raspy voice, insane acrobatic skills, and an awesome stage presence. And that's why we're finally giving her a Top 10 list of her best bops! Given that P!nk is a one-of-a-kind talent and practically all of her songs are hits, this was an extremely difficult article to create. There were so many songs we love that we didn't get to include (honorable mentions go out to "U + Ur Hand" and "Sober"), but overall, we feel like this ranking is a good reflection of P!nk's incredible talent over the years. Let's get the party started, shall we?

10. "Just Give Me a Reason (feat. Nate Ruess)"

While we personally believe P!nk has more complex songs than "Just Give Me a Reason," we have to admit it's a solid track and there's a reason why it's been so commercially successful. The song, which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, is a pop-rock piano-infused power ballad, released as the third single from P!nk’s album, The Truth About Love. It shows off both P!nk's and her singing companion's vocals off splendidly.

The song views two different perspectives of a relationship. One part (P!nk) thinks the relationship is crumbling and she starts to lose feelings, while the other part (fun.'s Nate Ruess) thinks it’s just a bad period and they can fall in love again. Ultimately, they both find hope in making things work. "Just Give Me a Reason" won the Billboard Mid-Year Award for Favorite Hot 100 No. Single, and garnered two Grammy Award nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Song of the Year at the 2014 Grammy Awards – where P!nk and Nate Ruess performed the song after a trapeze-accompanied rendition of "Try."

9. "What About Us"

One of P!nk's more recent hits (besides "Never Gonna Not Dance Again")! "What About Us" is the lead single from P!nk’s seventh studio album Beautiful Trauma and was released in 2017. It's one of many P!nk songs that discusses trust in a relationship – but it's not just about romantic relationships. It's also a song that applies to friendships, familial ties, or even relationships with the government and society. Its message is about standing strong in the midst of adversity. And to top it all off, it's got a really cool beat drop to boot.

Co-writer Johnny McDaid said about the song and producer Steve Mack, "Working with Steve Mack is always a master class in pop music. [...] Steve really fought for the chord changes in the song to be almost like a mantra, you know, that they musically just repeat and repeat and repeat to give Alecia the stage to weave the melody into a place where it would soar into this incredible, epic celebration and the unity that comes from it. The repetition in the song, the idea that it would become almost like a heartbeat as it just got inside you and became integral when you listened to it. We need to question more and I love that the song’s premise is a question."

8. "Glitter In the Air"

We love P!nk's rough and tough persona, but it's stunning when she's able to show off a more tender side. We believe "Glitter In the Air" is the most gorgeous and underrated track on P!nk's acclaimed 2008 album Funhouse. The piano melodies are stirring, P!nk's vocals shimmer, and the lyrics – co-written by Billy Mann and Alecia Moore herself – are astoundingly poetic. This song will make you feel something. After all, Oprah Winfrey notably claimed it's "very spiritual and it’s very sensual and it’s very sophisticated and visually beautiful."

A slow, emotional, pop love ballad, "Glitter In the Air" has P!nk singing about the fears that come with falling in love. Several metaphors describe the feeling: "thunder before the lightning," a "breath before the phrase," and even "your whole life waiting on the ring to prove you're not alone" (a double entendre about waiting for a phone call and waiting on an engagement ring). Even more, P!nk got to perform the song at the 52nd Grammy Awards to a standing ovation. She was able to incorporate aerial skills and water effects into her act and it was dubbed by many media outlets as the best performance of the night.

7. "Who Knew"

“Who Knew” is an emotional track from P!nk's fourth studio album, I’m Not Dead The song was originally released on May 18, 2006 to radio as the album’s second single, but was moderately successful. But after the success of “U + Ur Hand”, the song was later successfully re-released in June 2007 as the album’s fourth single in the United States. And that's when it blew up!

"Who Knew" is a pop rock song, which contains elements of ballad and soft rock music. Lyrically, the song is about the loss of a good friend of P!nk’s, but it can also be interpreted as a romantic relationship. P!nk said in an article with MTV in 2006: “‘Who Knew” is about the death of friendship. You’re best friends forever, and then three years later you haven’t seen each other in two years — what happened? You grow apart and people come in and out of your life for different reasons, seasons."

In a later interview, she clarified: "There’s a couple different people mixed in. It’s just the grieving process. You can look at somebody, he might be right there, and the next Monday he might not be."

6. "Just Like a Pill"

Now we're getting into some of P!nk's early cuts! If you have not listened to all of P!nk's sophomore album, Missundaztood, you're missing out. It's early 2000s grungy pop rock bliss. "Just Like a Pill" is one of the standouts on the LP. It's also probably the best vocal performance P!nk has on the album, as it features her wailing on the guitar-heavy chorus. "Just Like a Pill" is a jam where P!nk compares the boy she is dating to hardcore drugs. Instead of making her better, he's making her ill.

The song was a hit, peaking at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. About the drug use themes, P!nk later clarified, "That’s part of who I am, but I’m not as self-destructive as I used to be. I’ve done it, so I’m not curious about it." If anything, "Just Like a Pill" has us thinking about the mind-altering chemicals love produces.

5. "Don't Let Me Get Me"

This song is both super nostalgic and has aged incredibly well at the same time. Yes, the music production is so 2001. But the themes of "Don't Let Me Get Me" are so relevant to today's social-media-comparing and mental health-focused generation. It's basically a nitty gritty song about hating yourself, but also knowing that you shouldn't hate yourself.

In the song, P!nk hates the way she looks and has very low self esteem. She also touches on unhealthy relationships with teachers and parents, getting compared to Britney Spears (who was huge at the time), and the music industry tearing her apart. The lyrics definitely connected with audiences at the time, seeing as the song reached #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 and #8 on the Hot 100.

4. "Try"

This song has a little bit of everything from P!nk: gorgeous music production, strong and soaring vocals, and some lyrical inspiration for anyone struggling to take the leap with love. "Try" was released as the second single from 2012's The Truth About Love. It was written and composed by Michael Busbee and Ben West and produced by Greg Kurstin.

Michael Busbee said about the song on Genius, "P!nk was literally one of three artists I thought could sing it because it originally had a two-octave range...Range-wise, it was P!nk, Beyoncé, and Christina Aguilera. [...] Greg Kurstin actually produced “Try” and he told me that the vocal that’s on the radio is [P!nk’s] first pass. He took a second pass to be safe, but that was her first pace. It just speaks to what kind of an artist she is."

He continued, "She didn’t write that song, but she so felt it and embodied it and took the time to make it her own before she even got there to sing it. It wasn’t like, “Cool, I really like that song. You guys got the lyrics?” It was as though she wrote it and sang her ass off."

Furthermore, "Try" is a notable track in P!nk's repertoire thanks to the way she's performed it. She got to show off her modern dancing chops in the music video, and continued showing those incredible chops WHILE singing her butt off at the 2012 AMAs. Seriously: she's twisting and flipping while letting out incredible belts live. We don't know how P!nk is able to pull off those kinds of singing feats (there are literally videos of her flipping in-air while belting), but it's what makes her one of the greatest artists ever.

3. "Raise Your Glass"

A pounding celebration for dirty little freaks who are too school for cool! "Raise Your Glass" was released as the lead single off P!nk's first compilation album, Greatest Hits… So Far!!! The bop celebrates the first decade since P!nk’s debut in 2000 and is dedicated to all the fans who have supported her along the way.

The song was released in October 2010 and gained both critical and commercial success, being acclaimed by most music critics as a party anthem. It also reached the Top 10 in several countries, including the United States, where it became her third number-one single.

On the song, P!nk told MTV, "I had been on the road for two years and I hadn’t written anything and I wanted to write a song about underdogs. Instead of going and becoming a cover girl, I kind of just hit the road and pounded the pavement...and became a touring artist. You don’t have to be popular when you’re a touring artist, you just have to be good, and this is a thank you for the fans."

2. "Get the Party Started"

"Get the Party Started" is classic, staple, must-listen P!nk – which is why it's #2 on our list. This was P!nk's first huge hit, and it's a good introduction to her as an artist. Written by Linda Perry, this tune is simply about going to a party and having wild fun. The song was one of the biggest dance hits of 2001, as well as P!nk's best-selling song that year, reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving Gold certified status.

On the song's creation, Linda Perry told Rolling Stone, "I got ProTools and set it all up. 'Get the Party Started' was just me figuring out what all this stuff does. I came up with that beat, laid it down, found all these weird chords and sounds and put the horns. Then I went back to my guitar for the wah-wahs. I was just having fun. I picked up a microphone and said, “I’m just going to say every clichéd line I can think of.” And I came up with, “Get the party started on a Saturday night” and wrote a bunch of stuff down. I called up my manager afterwards and said, 'I just wrote a damn hit.' It was too easy."

1. "So What"

Turn on the radio, and you'll still hear this song blast across stations today. "So What" takes the #1 spot on our list for several reasons: it's hardcore as hell, is really fun (and funny!) to listen to, and has a message about wearing a "brand new attitude" that any recently-heartbroken person can vibe with. Oh, and the music video is bonkers. It features P!nk kicking, screaming, and being her usual rowdy and goofy self. It's an iconic part of early 2000s pop culture.

Perhaps even more crazy than this song is the story of its fruition. "So What" was first released as a single from Funhouse. It was written during a separation between P!nk and her husband, Carey Hart. Funnily enough, Hart features in the video for this song, because by the time P!nk’s Funhouse album was nearing release, P!nk and Carey were back together. However, P!nk decided to keep the rockin' track in as she felt it was important due to its emotional subject matter.

P!nk and Carey continued to be on and off with each other until they took part in marriage counseling and have now been together solidly since February 2010, and had their first child together, Willow, in June 2011. On P!nksPage, the artist wrote, "At first I was kind of irked because everyone was like, ‘Well, wait. I thought the split was amicable and now she’s talking sh-- about him?! What the f--k?’ It’s hypocritical.’ But once everyone saw the video and saw that Carey was in it, it shut everybody up, which was lovely. Carey hadn’t heard the song before he did the video. That’s how much he trusts and loves me. He pretty much just rolls his eyes, throws his hands up in the air, and hugs me. He gets it. He gets me. It’s nice.”

So at the end of the day, what does "So What" prove? That P!nk still is, and always will be, a rock star.
