In celebration of Black History Month, Smooch Music is releasing a deluxe version of Maya Angelou's posthumous album Caged Bird Songs. Prior to that release, a new video for Angelou’s iconic poem “Still I Rise” premiered on Rolling Stone.
On “Still I Rise,” Angelou is backed by a choir and hip hop beat. The black-and-white video features clips from throughout history, including footage of the Civil Rights Movement as well as current protests.
Caged Bird Songs was originally released in 2014. The deluxe edition can be pre-saved here. Proceeds from the album will be given to the Maya Angelou Foundation.
