Watch Pharrell Williams Throw the First Pitch at a New York Yankees Game
Last night (August 23), the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets 4-2 in a Subway Series showdown at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Before Yankees starting pitcher Domingo Germán threw his first strike of the evening, Pharrell Williams took the field to throw a ceremonial first pitch.
Williams, joined by his son Rocket, was promoting his brand Billionaire Boys Club’s new collaboration with the Yankees. The line includes a satin varsity jacket, T-shirts, and hoodies in addition to more unusual items such as a ceramic Yankees helmet bowl and a NYC bodega-style coffee cup. Items from the collection can be purchased at various locations in Yankee Stadium - including the team store on the main level behind home plate and the Great Hall team store at Gate 6 - as well as online.
The MLB reports that as Williams stood on the field alongside his son and one of his daughters, Yankee Stadium’s loudspeakers played some of the biggest songs in his discography: including the likes of “Feels” and “Get Lucky.” Pharrell isn't the only hip-hop artist to throw out a first pitch for the Yankees this month. Earlier in August, Logic threw out a first pitch before the Yankees lost to the Tampa Bay Rays.
So far in 2022, Pharrell Williams has shared a number of collaborative songs, including “Functional Addict” and “Paper Plates” (with Nigo), “Neck & Wrist” (with Pusha T), “Cash In Cash Out” (featuring 21 Savage and Tyler, the Creator), and “Stay With Me” (with Calvin Harris).
