Watch Trailer for New Post Malone Tour Documentary 'Runaway'
Amazon Freevee – an ad-supported video on demand streaming service formerly known as IMDB TV – is set to debut a Post Malone documentary titled Post Malone: Runaway. The film will take fans behind the scenes of his pre-Covid Runaway Tour, while also showing glimpses of his life and career.
Premiering August 12, the hour-long doc comes just before Post is set to embark on his Twelve Carat Toothache tour this September. As seen in the new trailer for the doc, the film gives an onstage and backstage look at Malone’s 37-date trek in 2019. The Runaway Tour was canceled, with five shows remaining, in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I already knew Post Malone was a force before going on tour. But then, after spending time with him, unfiltered, close, and personal, I very quickly realized he’s unlike anything the world has seen before. He’s a polymath, loyal to his art, a true ‘rock star,’” the film’s director Hector Dockrill said in a press statement.
He continued, “Being on tour with Post is like every emotion hitting you at once, it’s intense, and it’s wild, and our vision was to pull fans into the experience just enough to get a glimpse of this, while leaving the rest to the imagination.”
Aside from Dockrill, the doc's team includes writers and producers Sam Bridger and Casey Engelhardt. The Vice-owned Pulse Films produced the project.
As for news about Post Malone's tour in support of his latest LP, it kicks off September 10 in Omaha and wraps November 15 in Los Angeles. In total, Post will stop in 33 cities. You can find more tour info on Post Malone's website.
