Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Launches Online Market with 2,655 Unreleased Demos

Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo has just launched a new online market on his website where he’s selling 2,655 previously unreleased demos from throughout his career.

The marketplace, which Cuomo launched on Dec. 8, is part of a final project for a web programming course he's currently enrolled in.

Cuomo has organized the demos into nine Alone collections and one “best of” collection. Each Alone collection compiles demos from a different era, from pre-Weezer days to Weezer’s 2016 "The White Album" era.

Each collection is priced at $9 and contains a different number of songs. For each collection, audio previews as well as short liner notes and a tracklist are available. To view the liner notes and tracklist, simply hover the mouse over the collection title.

Since Cuomo created this marketplace, he noted a couple of things: the collections are contained in Dropbox folders, the demos should have no co-writers or other performers, and any given demo could be low quality and/or mostly unfinished.

As such, Cuomo asked fans to help out with quality control, writing, “Also, please let me know if there’s anything I wouldn’t want public in all the voice notes. I never thought I would be releasing those. I don’t know what’s in them.”

You can check out the marketplace on Cuomo's website and you can read his notes on the online market here.
