Bad Bunny Makes History as First Latin Artist to Top Billboard Artist 100 Chart

Bad Bunny has made history thanks to the release of Un Verano Sin Ti. Previously sitting at No. 41, the artist rose to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated May 21) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time. Not only is it his first time topping the chart, it's also the first time any Latin artist has taken the top spot.

According to Billboard, Un Verano Sin Ti topped the Billboard 200 chart with 274,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week – the biggest weekly total for an album in 2022. The album's reception led Bad Bunny to make history as the first core Latin music act to sit atop the Billboard Artist 100, since the chart's launch in 2014.

All 22 newly-released songs on Un Verano Sin Ti have charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The only song missing on the chart currently is “Callaita,” with frequent collaborator Tainy, as the track was originally released in 2019 and had a 20-week run on the Hot 100 that year.

As for the Hot Latin songs chart, Bad Bunny has a whopping 24 titles on it – breaking the record for the most simultaneous entries in the chart’s history.

In other Bad Bunny news, the artist is set to embark on an ambitious stadium tour in August. He also recently won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Musica Urbana Album for his 2020 album El Último Tour Del Mundo, and shared a new video for his Daddy Yankee collab “X Última Vez.”
