Theater owner James L. Nederlander is producing a new show entitled Once Upon a One More Time, which will feature classic story book princesses with Britney Spears' music as the soundtrack. The show is scheduled to premiere in Chicago this fall before heading to Broadway.
Once Upon a One More Time will follow a book club of fairy tale princesses, such as Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Rapunzel, and Cinderella, who are presented with Betty Friedan’s iconic feminist text The Feminine Mystique. As the princesses humorously dive into the modern ideas, they will move through 23 of Spears’ songs.
Spears is already involved with the show, and has attended one of the readings that have taken place before the developmental workshop next month. Previews will begin on Oct. 29 at Chicago’s James L. Nederlander Theater. The show is officially set to run from Nov. 13 to Dec. 1.
