Center Stage on Live365 this week is Rich City Radio, playing rock music others won't! We spoke with DJ Onemore about their history with radio, their station's programming, and we got some music recommendations. Check out the interview below!
What made you get started in radio?
I've always loved music and wanted to be a DJ. I worked briefly for a local radio station, and when I left I was hooked, so I made Rich City Radio.
What brought you to Live365?
Having the music rights covered.
What's your favorite part about running your own radio station?
It's simple. Playing music for people.
Tell us about your station's programming. What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Streaming from Richmond, KY, Rich City Radio plays the best classic rock along with deep cuts and forgotten hits from mostly the 70s and 80s. You'll also hear some new music from classic artists. More live shows are in the works for special programming for certain decades of rock 'n' roll.
Name one artist that you play on your station that is underrated in your opinion.
ELO - They have so many great songs from the 70s and 80s. I think Jeff Lynne is one of the best songwriters.
What's your favorite music memory/moment?
I grew up the youngest of 4 kids. Born in 1970, I heard rock, funk, and disco from my older siblings, and country music from my parents. It was all great to me, I still love it all today, but the first time I heard my brother playing AC/DC on his 8-track player, my entire world changed. I was forever hooked on rock riffs and loud guitars. Rock 'n' roll is definitely in my blood.
Please list your top 5 or 10 songs.
There's no way I could ever pick my top 5 songs because I love so many, but I will list 5 that I always enjoy hearing:
- "Gimme Shelter" - The Rolling Stones
- "In the City" - Eagles
- "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)" - AC/DC
- "Foolin'" - Def Leppard
- "Reelin' In The Years" - Steely Dan
