2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Death Cab for Cutie's landmark record Plans. To celebrate the milestone, the indie rock band are treating Seattle, Chicago, and Brooklyn to some special concerts.
The four concerts all take place in August. They'll start with Seattle on the 2nd, then be in Chicago on the 5th and end with two Brooklyn shows on the 8th and 10th. (On August 9, Death Cab for Cutie will break up their two Brooklyn shows by opening for My Chemical Romance’s stadium concert in New Jersey.)

During the anniversary concerts, the group will play their 2005 LP in full - including singles “Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” and “Crooked Teeth.” Nation of Language and the American Analog Set will open select shows. You can sign up to get tickets on the band's website.
“Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever—it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations,” frontman Benjamin Gibbard said in a press statement acquired by Pitchfork. “We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion.”
In other Death Cab for Cutie news, the band recently finished an extensive arena tour with Ben Gibbard's other project, The Postal Service, performing both Transatlanticism and Give Up in full to celebrate the albums' 20th anniversaries. According to Gibbards, the group is currently working on their eleventh studio effort. Their last LP, Asphalt Meadows, was dropped in 2022.
