Father John Misty has shared a greatest-hits compilation...well, more like a great-ish hits compilation. The new album, Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said to Crawl, is available now on all digital platforms, with a physical version planned for release on August 16.
The compilation features tracks from Fear Fun (2012), I Love You, Honeybear (2015), Pure Comedy (2017), God’s Favorite Customer (2018), and Chloë and the Next 20th Century (2022). It also features the 2016 single “Real Love Baby,” which has had a resurgence in popularity recently.
The compilation closes with one new track, “I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All.” It's a funky eight-minute romp featuring lots of saxophone and keys. Pre-orders for the physical edition are ongoing.
Joshua Tillman made his debut as Father John Misty in 2012. His first album under the moniker, Fear Fun, followed years of releases as J. Tillman. None of the singer-songwriter’s J. Tillman work appears on Greatish Hits.
According to a press release, Father John Misty will release a new album later in 2024, and it will include “I Guess Time Makes Fools of Us All.” This fall, he is set to hit the road with Kacey Musgraves, as well as play a few of his own headlining shows. You can find tickets here.
