Overall Records
- Taylor Swift could tie Beyoncé (25 wins) or surpass Lady Gaga or Madonna, who are the third and second most awarded artists ever (with 18 and 20 wins, respectively) depending on the amount of wins at the 2023 ceremony – Swift is currently the 4th most awarded artist ever with 14 wins, and she is nominated for 11 trophies this year.
- Depending on the number of her wins (11 nominations in total), Taylor Swift could tie or surpass Peter Gabriel for the most VMA wins in a single night (10 trophies).
- Swift or SZA (with 8 nominations) could also tie A-ha, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and The Smashing Pumpkins as the second most awarded artist in a single night (all of them won 8 awards in one night).
- If Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” turns all of its 7 nominations into wins, that would tie it with Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” as the second most rewarded video ever after Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” which won 9 awards.
- Last but certainly not least, Beyoncé could extend her record as the most awarded artist ever (25 wins) if she wins Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, or Show of the Year (which would make it her 26th win as a solo artist and 31st win if counted together with her wins as part of The Carters and Destiny’s Child).
